Typhoon “Biparjoy” is expected to make landfall on the west coast of India on June 15, eight ports in western India, including two of the country’s largest ports in terms of cargo throughput, have announced the suspension of operations. The port closures will continue through the weekend.
Due to the suspension of port operations, major container shipping companies are constantly warning their customers of cargo delays and supply chain disruptions. In its June 13 update, Maersk Group said, “Since June 10, all marine and terminal operations at the Port of Pipava have been suspended. As of today, land operations have also been suspended, resulting in the cessation of rail operations as well.”
